Residential electricity rates for all 51 states and territories the EIA reports, as of June 2026, worked through to what home charging costs. The year column assumes 1,000 miles a month at 30 kWh per 100 miles, the EPA's measured figure. The national average is 18.34 cents per kWh.

Nevada is the cheapest at 13.11 cents per kWh and Hawaii the dearest at 52.72, a difference of $1,426 a year on the same driving.
