Residential electricity rates for all 51 states and territories the EIA reports, as of August 2026, worked through to what home charging costs. The year column assumes 1,000 miles a month at 37.1 kWh per 100 miles, the median EPA rating across current model-year electric cars. The national average is 18.16 cents per kWh.

Nevada is the cheapest at 12.72 cents per kWh and Hawaii the most expensive at 47.18, a difference of $1,534 a year on the same driving.
